The undergraduate medical education program is designed with a goal to create an “Indian Medical graduate” (IMG), possessing requisite knowledge, skills, attitudes, values and responsiveness to be a Physician of first contact of the community who is also Globally relevant.
The training period is for the duration of 4 ½ academic years divided into 9 semesters. It is followed by one year of compulsory rotatory internship.
Phase I (1st Professional year)
Phase II (2nd Professional year)

Phase III (3rd Professional year) - Part 2
Phase I (1st Professional year)
Phase I ( 1st Professional year)
- Duration – 1 + 13 months (including 1 month of Foundation course).
- Subjects Studied: Human Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, introduction to Community Medicine.
- Other Teaching Elements: Early Clinical Exposure, Professional Development including Ethics (AETCOM) and Humanities.
- At the end of Phase 1 University examination is conducted.
Phase II (2nd Professional year)
Phase II (2nd Professional year)
- Duration – 12 months.
- Subjects Studied: Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Community Medicine, introduction to clinical subjects.
- Other Teaching Elements: Professional Development including Ethics (AETCOM).
- At the end of Phase II University examination is conducted.
Phase III (3rd Professional year)
Phase III (3rd Professional year) – Part 1
- Duration – 13 months.
- Subjects Studied: Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Community Medicine, Forensic Medicine and Toxicology, Clinical subjects.
- Other Teaching Elements: Professional Development including Ethics (AETCOM).
- At the end of Phase III – Part 1, University examination is conducted.
- This is followed by 2 months of ELECTIVES.
Phase III (3rd Professional year) - Part 2
Phase III (3rd Professional year) – Part 2
- Duration – 13 months.
- Subjects Studied: Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Paediatrics, Orthopedics and allied specialties. Other Teaching Elements: Professional Development including Ethics (AETCOM).
- At the end of Phase III- Part 2, University examination is conducted.
- Compulsory rotatory internship for 1 year.
